Missouri dating laws

§§ 558.002, 558.011, 566.071 (2017).) Sexual contact with a student is also a Class E felony, punishable by up to four years in prison and a fine of up to ,000. Only an experienced criminal defense attorney can help you successfully navigate the criminal justice system and protect your rights.

Registered sex offenders are required to provide their names, addresses, and photographs to local police, who make this information available to the public. A criminal conviction can also make it more difficult to obtain a job or a professional license.

The statutes posted on this website are uncertified and unofficial (see FAQ for more information).

My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Missouri.

§ 589.400 (2017).) Being convicted of any crime, but especially a sex crime, can have extremely serious consequences.

Is it illegal for the 20 year old and the 16 year old to date?

The state does not give two hoots who hangs out with who at the mall, or goes to school events, or goes out to dinner together, or whatever passes as dating for kids these days.

However, I have been told that if there is a 2 yr age difference, the state could pick up statutory rape charges. I am a female and I am telling you DON' T RISK YOUR WHOLE LIFE.

On another note a 16 year old can legally wed with parents consent and signature. A few years after that I watched the same thing happen to a guy I went to school with. Fortunately for him after prison 9/11 happened and he was able to volunteer to serve in the military and was pardoned.

The state does give a hoot when it comes to sexual activity with minors.

The age of consent represents the date at which the state will not throw someone in jail for having sex with a minor.
